Founded by two Colombian immigrants, Esencia started from humble beginnings by cleaning multi-family residential buildings.
It was through this field experience that we gleaned behind-the-scenes insights into the everyday challenges faced by both Property Managers and Service Providers.
Property Managers struggle to find reliable, quality, and certified Service Providers. And managing all of them is overwhelming and time-consuming.
Meanwhile, Service Providers want consistent work, but they lack the systems and resources to effectively market and manage their business (on top of fulfilling work orders). They’re frustrated and stressed out.

Our History
A Journey From Struggle To Success
In 2006, Angelica Bermudez, a personal banker at Chase Bank, met Mauricio Grisales, a dishwasher guy. Two very different people. Two different stories. Completely different circumstances. However, both of them had big hearts and big dreams. They fell in love and began to share their lives together.
By December 2010, Mauricio lost his job while Angelica was only 3 months pregnant. Very difficult times, they lived off of one paycheck for many months. In June 2011, they embarked on an opportunity to start their own cleaning business, while welcoming their first baby in the world. Two new parents. One income. And a business running on negative profits.
One month before Angelica’s maternity leave ends, they made a brave decision to have Angelica quit her job as a personal banker and take care of their baby. With no family or friends nearby, they made a promise to each other: Do whatever it takes to make their “one-person” business work.
From that moment, their real journey began. They have built their business while raising their two kids. They worked twice as hard and struggled financially every single day. They made many sacrifices throughout their journey, but family has always been their top priority. From cooking and eating meals together, attending their kids’ games and recitals, helping their kids with homework, and keeping them away from modern distractions, and most importantly, praying together each night.
From that moment, their real journey began. They have built their business while raising their two kids. They worked twice as hard and struggled financially every single day. They made many sacrifices throughout their journey, but family has always been their top priority. From cooking and eating meals together, attending their kids’ games and recitals, helping their kids with homework, and keeping them away from modern distractions, and most importantly, praying together each night.
Their real success story is not what they’ve accomplished as entrepreneurs. It’s who they have become as leaders. It’s who their kids will become one day. It’s about the impact they are making on their employees and team members. Ultimately, their true success is fulfilling their life’s purpose: to inspire others to pursue their dreams.
For Angelica and Maurcio, life has taken them on a beautiful roller coaster. Today, they’ve impacted (and continue to impact) the lives of hundreds of immigrants, small business owners, and families in South America.
